Sometimes I think I can explain things a thousand times and people just
won't listen. I guess I have to get used to mails complaining about the
overlays in the treeview :(

Once again: the explorer doesn't update the overlays in the treeview
when told to. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. That depends on
its internal cache - if the explorer thinks the cache isn't valid
anymore, *then* it will update the treeview overlays. But if it thinks
the notification we send to tell it to update those overlays aren't
valid because its cache tells it otherwise, it won't update those overlays.
