As you just said: it's a deviation, not a bug.

It made sense: it was a workaround for a Subversion bug.

No, sorry.
You see, you may be annoyed by this. Other people want other things
which 1.1.5 doesn't do. And other people might even want the new
status cache in 1.1.5 because it's much better than what we have now.
This would never end.
That's why I created the 1.1.4 from the last 1.1.3 tag, and now 1.1.5
is created from 1.1.4 and *not* from HEAD. I want a bugfix only
release.
