Actually I disagree with regards to conflicts.

Additions and deletions I agree should show up as 'modifications' of the
containing folder, but a conflict is important enough to override
everything else IMHO.

Besides, while having a folder show up as added or deleted can be
misleading, a folder cannot itself be in a conflicted state (to my
knowledge anyway...) so having it show up as a 'conflict' shouldn't be
confusing.
