IF you only want a directory diff and not merge you can also try kdiff3.
As the name implies this is three-way if wanted. For file diffs it also
highlights the differences within a changed line which comes in very useful
if you (like me) miss the obvious in other tools.
If I had the time/tools I'd like a (multi-platform) combination of WinMerge,
Kdiff3 and TortoiseMerge.
NB When I say I'd like, I don't mean to suggest I'm asking anyone else to do
it!

Actually giving kdiff3 merge capability would do most of it.
