You're right, that won't work.

Hm! I don't have any non-flawed suggestions in stock atm.

The hook requirement is gone in the next (major?) Subversion release,
so why not prepare for the future and clean this feature up a bit..

"Edit log" and "Edit author" definitely ought to be in the context
menu, for clarity and GUI consistency.

(Look at me, feature requesting like a mad man without forking out a
single line of code.. Good thing I have issue tracker access so I can
stuff it there and wait for someone to accomplish it.. *Hee hee!*)
