I've added this to the issue tracker as issue 15.

As a temporary fix, how would it be if the bottom pane is a fixed size,
resizing from the title bar grows the top pane, and resizing from the
bottom edge grows the middle pane? I am guessing that the list of
changed files is least likely to be interesting. Some users will have a
fixed format for log messages with a lots of preamble, so they may want
a large message pane. And many users would possibly like to see more
history.
