But the same could be true of updates. Someone else's work in another
file might conflict with yours just as much as their work in another
part of the same file. So I think anyone who wants this should choose
1).

Not an error, but maybe inportant enough to include with 2c).

Which leaves just the 2 options you started with = 1 checkbox.
