Hello,

I've just made a performance tests for my firm.
Here are the results.

My conclusions are :
- 256 Mo of RAM is not enough.
- have faster HD controler
- The choose between 512Mo and 1Go of RAM, depends on the applications you
are running.

Regards,
Laurent

PS : I will soon make a test on another computer P4, min speed 2.6 Ghz, 512
Mo RAM, SATA controler and 10000 RPM hard drive ... you will send the
result.

PS : 2 members of my team have computer like PC1 (see bellow)
One have quite the same results I have with other applications running
(Lotus Notes + CAST SQL Builder + 1 or 2 other software)
The other have big problems, it takes 5min for time1, we are enable to find
the problem :
- same applications are running
- the computers were install the same day
- hard drives are both fill at 60%
- we defragment hard drive

I used TortoiseSVN version 1.1.3-dev rev 2202

PC4 Pentium 4 2,6 512 UDMA166 40Go
PC5 Pentium 4 2,6 1000 UDMA166 40Go

The HD drives are 7200 RPM with 2Mo cache.
All computers are Windows XP sp1, with Trend Micro OfficeScan.

Redo operations except 0 with Explorer "Max Cached Icons" to 4096 instead of
default value to 500

The results
        Icons Repository Time1 Time2
PC1 512 rep1 46 16
Celeron 4096 rep1 50 15
256 512 rep2 17 12

        4096 rep2 15 8

PC3 512 rep1 30 15
P4 4096 rep1 24 15
512 512 rep2 15 8
        4096 rep2 12 8

PC4 512 rep1 20 3
P4 4096 rep1 18 2
512 512 rep2 15 2
        4096 rep2 10 1

PC5 512 rep1 20 2
P4 4096 rep1 18 1
1Go 512 rep2 15 1
        4096 rep2 8 1

Some remarks :
- PC1 and PC2 are the same computer with more RAM. I couldn't explain that
PC2 seem slower than PC1, except if RAM has got problems.
- PC4 and PC5 are the same computer.
- When I redo the operations 4 to 6 several times, time2 is quite the same
on each computers.
- I redo those tests 2 or 3 times, to be sure of the results. The difference
was of 1 or 2 seconds.
