That's one thing I suggested as well, write it, read it again, think if it's
worth the discussion it's going to rise and delete it.

Considering the 10000-line analytical respones. On one German motorcycle
list we had the tradition of gang-faq'ing (<-spelling?!?) people who
wouldn't listen. This worked out well. If someone asked a FAQ he received a
standardised, polite, maybe a bit sarcastic reply to the list, pointing him
in the proper direction. If he didn't listen or started stupid (not funny)
flame wars, people would send him the entire group FAQ to his private mail
address, telling him to read it before coming back to the list...

Now in the time of broadband connections, this doesn't hurt so much anymore,
but they should get the idea.
