Personally, I want that ESC cancels *every* dialog that might appear.
I told you once -- don't pretend that you remember this -- that there
are some dialogs which you cannot close/cancel using ESC. I'll test
the r2371 tomorrow and will try to make a detailed list of this.

It's not a big issue, so don't worry about that.

Ok, it is annoying for people like me but not a very important issue.

I'm tired. It works as you say. I don't know why it didn't work before
... I'm going to bed right now!
