Yes, you're right, but let's try to reduce it to the max :-)

You (and I) proposed:

Either something is language independent (overlay icons and admonition
graphics in our case) or not (Screenshots surely aren't). So let's ditch the
language (independent) stuff.

Use something unobtrusive for up to date and some eye-catching character for
out of date. "Missing" (in another language) and "out of date" are basically
the same. Hopefully my tabs align with yours :-)

- means up to date
# means out of date
Better this way?
