For me the most common mode for checkout is:

0. Choose destination directory ( at path ...\Development\project, current
   working copy is usually ...\Development\project\project )
1. Browse to repository location.
2. Type in name of new directory
   ( e.g. ...\Development\project\project-1.1.0 )
3. Click OK

The suggested black magic is evil *shudder*.
