I have now :)

As I expected, it's extremely slow - and it has to be, as there's no way
to check the CRC of a file over FTP without downloading it. So in order
to tell me which files I need to upload, it downloads the entire remote
site and compares it with my local copy.

The only way to avoid uploading 50mb of files when I need to update the
live website, would be either for TSVN to give me a list of all files
that have been modified since revision X or install SVN on my live
server and checkout the tags/live to a folder and then use the export
feature to copy the files into the web root. This would also mean I
somehow have to get SVN access into my LAN from my server hosting
provider - but I can probably punch an SSL port thought the firewalls.
Anyway I think I can live with that until a few other people decide they
want this feature :)
