I am just guessing here, but what happens if you delete the file and
commit it. Then copy the revision before the reformatting to restore
it? That might work, although I suspect it will just specify the
copied revision for every revision.

You might get better answers of the Subversion users@ list as this is
really a Subversion question. It is a much larger community so you
might have better luck there.

I would also call the feature "blame" when asking the question in the
Subversion community.
