it worked for me when I did a new checkout from eclipse, after overwriting the root url. But its still no solution if the repository was checked out with another tool before. Then it does not overwrite the root url.
With older versions of subclipse this was working fine. It gives much more troubles like it is now and I cannot see a reason why it should fail if you do not have access to read the root. It did not in the past... what is the advantage now, why does it need to read the root?!
