It started OK for me on OSX. Maybe you have some environment
variables set that I do not?

I do not use SSH so cannot really suggest much else. I know people on
this list have talked about using ssh-agent so that they did not have
to enter passphrases. Since I do not use SSH and SVN, I do not know
what is involved in setting that up.
