The JavaHL library is likely crashing. Usually only a native code
failure would bring down the JVM. Does the OSX Crash Report dialog
come up? If so, you can see the details and cut and paste the stack
trace. Sometimes it is helpful.

For now, if you uninstall the JavaHL plugin you ought to be able to
bring up that dialog and make SVNKit your default adapter.
