I had the same problem with 1.4.1 on Windows XP with Eclipse 3.4. The
only way that I could fix it was to either install Eclipse from
scratch or manually clean up Eclipse's internal configuration files
under the 'eclipse' install directory. I don't remember all of the
files I touched, I used text search to find every file with a
reference to subclipse. Looking at my text editor's file history,
here are some of the files (there were more I think):
\eclipse\configuration\org.eclipse.osgi\bundles\246\data\-1698164569\artifacts.xml
\eclipse\configuration\org.eclipse.update\history\1216308151462.xml
\eclipse\configuration\org.eclipse.update\platform.xml
\eclipse\p2\org.eclipse.equinox.p2.director\rollback\content.xml
\eclipse\p2\org.eclipse.equinox.p2.core\cache\content.xml
\eclipse\p2\org.eclipse.equinox.p2.metadata.repository\cache\content1829922860.xml
