I think you need more detail.

I had this:

/base/src/de/uni/…/Linux
                   /Windows
                   /Mac
each one containing a makefile.

I then created the directory /base/makefiles and moved those three
directories there. Subsequently, I edited the makefiles to reflect
these changes.
