[Subclipse-users] Subclipse development release available

From: Mark Phippard <markphip_at_gmail.com>

As you may or may not know, for nearly the last year all Subclipse
trunk development has been focused on Subversion 1.5, as we were
expecting it to be released last fall. Anyway, the key aspect is that
a LOT of development has been happening in Subclipse for the last year
that most of you have not been able to see.

Over the weekend, Subversion released its first official alpha for 1.5:

Alpha is a very conservative term, I'd have preferred they at least
call it Beta. We are fairly close to a release candidate and
generally speaking I consider this safe to use. I have been using 1.5
and Subclipse since last June. Anyway, now that there is an official
release with a tarball and everything, I am putting out our first
official Subclipse release. You can get it at this update site URL:

http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.4.x

The full changelog is here:

http://subclipse.tigris.org/subclipse_1.4.x/changes.html

Or if you prefer issue tracker:

http://subclipse.tigris.org/issues/buglist.cgi?component=subclipse&issue_status=RESOLVED&target_milestone=1.4

Some important notes:

1) Read this about general 1.5 info:
http://blogs.open.collab.net/svn/2008/03/subversion-15-a.html
2) SVNKit is NOT currently supported. You must use JavaHL, it MUST be
the alpha2 build
3) We provide JavaHL for Windows as part of the update site.
4) You can get a Linux RPM that includes JavaHL here:
http://merge-tracking.open.collab.net/
5) OSX installer that includes JavaHL will be here soon:
http://merge-tracking.open.collab.net/

Finally, we (CollabNet) have also been working on a new merge client
built on top of Subclipse as part of this work. You can get it here
as well:

http://merge-tracking.open.collab.net/

This will also install Subclipse from the same update site it gives in
the instructions. The CollabNet update site also includes a Linux
JavaHL plugin that will work automatically, provided that you also
install the Linux client RPM that is on the same site.
