They should work together fine on any OS.

What happens during a checkout is outside our control. We run an API
and it does the rest. Open your Eclipse Preferences and go to Team >
SVN and see which client provider you are using. It is possible that
SVNKit has problems checking out to NFS shares that the native client
(JavaHL) does not.
