The passwords are managed by the middleware because that is how the
middleware works. It manages all of the connections. We can pass it a
username and password, but if the password has been modified, as an
example, it does not have a way to really handle that gracefully. So we
allow it to manage passwords as that works best.

On Windows and OS X, the passwords are also encrypted by the OS which they
would not be in Eclipse.
