First off, it wouldn't have anything to do with whether you configured the
branches/tags. That would just give you a more friendly picker for
entering the URL.

This error happens when a NPE happens inside the compare process. I have
fixed several of these in the past, seems to happen a lot when using
svn:externals.

I would have thought the latest releases would have eliminated all of
these. Drats. These are really, really hard to fix and find because the
Eclipse compare swallows the exception and produces this empty dialog. You
might get different results by changing your adapter preference.
