On the systems where it just worked were you dynamically prompted to
provide the information? If so, then that is just the difference between
using JavaHL and JavaSVN as the client adapter in your preferences. Go to
Team -> SVN.

If you are using svn+ssh:// you probably want to use the JavaSVN adapter.

Open the Eclipse Help, then go to the Subclipse section and look at
Reference -> Support for SVN Protocols.
