If you are going to send a screenshot to a public mailing list you should
use a compressed format like PNG.

The error message you describe comes from Subversion and they mean to
report it to them. It is a general error message they use when they have
nothing better to say. Often times the problem was caused by a previous
action that might have failed.

Usually running the clean option from the Team menu will get your WC back
in a state where it can be used again, but sometimes it cannot.
