We have an FAQ about proxy:

You really have to go out of your way to set it up, so it seems odd that
you would already be setup for a proxy.

When you use a browser to browse the repository it only uses GET and does
not use any of the DAV methods.

Using https:// is often the only way to circumvent proxies that do not
support the DAV methods.
