Only able to sheck out files as read only

Hi,
 
I'm new with Subversion.
 
I've got Subversion 1.2.3 installed and are running Apache 2.0.54.
On another machine I've got eclipse and subclipse (a plugin to eclipse).
 
I've created a repository on my server using command line.
I can check out a trunk from within Eclipse. But when I do it's "read
only".
What should I do to get the permission to change the code in a file?
