It sounds like you do not have JavaHL. Check our FAQ:

http://subclipse.tigris.org/faq.html

Also, as long as you are not using file:// URL's you can try using JavaSVN
as the adapter instead of JavaHL. This can be set in preferences, Team ->
SVN.
