Primarily a carry-over from using it before the merge function was
implemented in subclipse.

If you are currently willing to do it from the command line, why wouldn't
you be willing to do it from Subclipse? What is the command line giving
you that Subclipse isn't? At a minimum, having it remember URL's and be
able to pick revisions from the log should help.
