I upgraded to SVN 1.2.1 and restarted Eclipse, and it seems to work now.

Forgive me if this is in the documentation already or something, but
my next question is, how can I associate an SVN repository with an
existing Eclipse project I already have? In other words, I have a
check-out of a repository already on my harddrive and have been
working with it through an eclipse project for some time. I would
like to attach this project to subclipse now. Is this possible?
