I am not sure how/where it does it, other than that it is in your workspace
.metadata folder, but somewhere Eclipse has some internal registry that
tells it which projects are connected with which Team Providers. It sounds
as though that information has been lost/corrupted.

I would suggest using a the SVN Command Line to commit any pending work,
then delete the project and check it out again. You can also try doing
Team->Share Project and see if you get the Wizard page that tells you
Subclipse has found existing .svn folders. If you do, you could let
Subclipse just reconnect the project. If you do not, then Cancel the
Wizard without pressing Finish.
