Why do you delete the added files?

I've just tried the following on a set of source that is in SVN but is
not a project:

Check out to clean directory not in Eclipse work area.
File->New Project->C Standard Make
Give the project a name
Clear "Use default"
Browse...
Select root folder
Hit Finish
Right-click on project in Navigator view
Team->Share Project...
Select SVN
Hit Next
The following dialog box appears:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
------Connect Project to Repository
  Project is already configured with SVN repository information.

Your project already has SVN/ directories. It was probably previously
shared, or checked out using another tool. It will be automatically
shared
using the following information.

User:
Host: http://server/svn/repos/trunk/project

[/] Validate Connection on Finish
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------

When I hit Finish, the project is almost immediately SVN decorated, and
I can do all the standard SVN things.

Note: I'm using Eclipse 3.0.1. If this doesn't work for you, it might
be worth you installing that version, since it might be due to the
development verson of Eclipse you are running. The Subclipse team are
still working on support for the current released version of Eclipse,
and have stated they aren't working on support for 3.1 yet.
