I haven't looked at it yet, but I am guessing that if we tried to do that,
we would only get soft-breaks and the actual message when we commit would
not be what we wanted.

TortoiseSVN displays a faint line in the message box to indicate column
80, so that you can insert your own hard-breaks. I do not know if SWT
would allow us to do something like that or not. Anyway, those are the
reasons it is behind some other stuff on my priority list.
