No, not really AFAIK. It is quite usual that a package includes its
own libtool version.

But since I am also using gentoo (its nice to take the drivers seat
again) I filed a bug report at
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66625 ;-)

And even better, a one line fix for the subversion-1.1.0 ebuild is
included there, too ;-)
