I checkout core and ui and I don't have these problems.
After an "update classpath" (that is what you probably missed) on core
and ui, I got no errors on core and an import problem on
DetailsDialogWithProjects.java I corrected using an "organize imports"
I used eclipse 2.1.2 on windows but I know it works on Linux with
eclipse 2.1.3

This version is compatible with Linux (I worked mostly on Linux these
latest weeks)

You are right, we should include some informations about the repository
layout ....
