Update doesn't give me new files

Hi!

when another users adds and commits a file to a repos, and I do an
update on my copy, I do not get the new files!
I cannot even workaround it with "svn co
http://svn.mydomain.com/repos/project/trunk/the_file_im_missing.dat"
since I only can co directories.

Am I missing sth. or is is a bug?
