It took me a few reads to understand, so let me restate (I use the
icon decorators myself so am not versed in the feature).

1) We let you provide a font and color for outgoing changes.
2) This appears to provide to modified resources, but not added.

If so, then sure, I think it would be OK to create a patch to change that.
