I changed this boolean in debug and it does not seem to make a difference.
 I seem to get the same status information back, just more of it.

Also, FWIW, on our Subclipse repository each svn info call seems to be
taking 3-4 seconds. Yikes. Maybe JavaSVN can bail us out on this?

Daniel, since you know the Subversion API would you care to comment? Is
the information we need available from the Subversion API that JavaHL is
using? This is a pretty major issue.
