Forget that. The plugin.xml entry probably wouldn't cause any problems.

FWIW, the problem you describe sometimes happens with the .svn folders
too. Eclipse itself hides those folders because they are marked as "Team
Private". Sometimes that doesn't happen soon enough, or something like
that.
