I came into this after any of that code copying was done, so I do not
really know the answers. If you want to do some of that research and
backport some of those bug fixes, that would be great. Maybe you can
actually get the Synchronize stuff to fully work. I have pretty much
given up on it for the time being.

For this particular patch, I am not sure it is worth the effort, but for
some of the other stuff you alluded to, it would be nice.
