I was just about to post exactly that. It's sad that some (once again
pretty wonky, IMHO) Debian policy gets in the way but that's their choice.
Building with jikes and Classpath _should_ be possible as far as the JNI
part is concerned. Unfortunately 1.1.x does NOT currently build with jikes
due to a bug in jikes itself (it 'forgets' identifiers of implemented
interfaces when the implementation is a static inner class); see the
subversion tracker. 1.0.x should build IIRC.
