We should make an effort to ask people submitting patches not to start
new threads when submitting followup versions of their patch. I've
noticed that some of our contributors are doing that and it makes it
much harder for everyone (not just Gavin) to keep track of the most
current version of their patch and what the comments on the patch has
been so far. By replying to the preceding email in the thread it
should be possible to track the thread regardless of subject line
changes (assuming the MUA of the contributor does the right thing with
headers).
