I would also suggest you look at the "Getting Involved" section of the
website, which contains links to a number of useful resources:
http://subversion.apache.org/contributing.html

A word of warning, though: most of the developers are focused on the
final stabilization and bug fixing before we create the 1.7.x release
branch. As such, there may be less time for mentorship and review
than there typically is. Please don't take it as a sign of
disinterest!
