Mailing Lists

Hi all,

There is an infrastructure ticket for tracking mailing list creation at the ASF:
  https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-2324

Joe Schaefer (ASF systems admin/lead) asked if he could create our
mailing lists this weekend. Hey... if the admin wants to do it, then I
say let him :-)

For now, just the following five will be created: dev, users,
announce, commits, and private.

I'm added as the moderator for all lists, and Arfrever volunteered for
a few. Other volunteers would be appreciated. Please add yourself to
the ticket.

When the repository is shifted over on Sunday, it will begin sending
commits to commits_at_subversion.apache.org, so you'll want to subscribe
as soon as the list is ready (watch the above ticket; I'll also send a
notice here).

I just edited the authorization file, so 15 of us will be able to
commit. I have 18 account requests pending, and those will be added.
That is most of the usual suspects, but get your ICLA sent in!

For the mailing lists, we can begin using them right away. Infra has
said they can backfill the archives, once we figure out how/where to
get those mbox files (haxx.se? collab.net?).

If traffic occurs on both lists, then Infra can mesh the archives
together without problem. I think we want to shift asap, but it won't
be a problem if there is lingering traffic.

Cheers,
-g
