It will also give incorrect results - it does not include files in
removed directories, only (inconsistently) files removed from
directories that were kept (issues 2333 and 2524).

We use one (available on request). This information is very useful to
give a rough idea of how big a change is, and can compactly be presented
in a table summarising changes.
