Yes, exactly. The whole "senders vs. recipients" thing is equally as
messed up as the whole "good email not registered with us vs. web
access not even logged in." Next patch should be much much better.

As I say, I think we need to create a user account with that return
address. At that point we can use the tools even in their present ...
exotic ... state.

I've done the following:

  - created user codesite_noreply_google
  - made it an Observer in the subversion.to project
  - confirmed that it already is subscribed to issues@
  - subscribed it to svn@
  - - trusted poster
  - - notices on home page only

I haven't really dug into why it worked for issues@ but not for svn@;
probably has to do with the various other settings on the lists. When
I created an account for the email address, it "inherited" the
subscription to issues@, so whereas you had apparently subscribed the
address as an unregistered user, it now shows up in the registered-
user subscriber list.

Here's a list of some of the problems we've been dodging, in this
thread, all of which are due to be fixed soon. I'm not sure whether
"soon" means "next patch" (a week or so) or "next release" (a month or
so), in all cases, as my primary laptop's in disc crash hell, sorry.
But anyway, these are all in the pipeline:

  - Can't administratively subscribe unregistered users as thoroughly
as registered users
  - Some web UI controls affect subscribers (i.e., recipients) but not
posters (i.e., contributers), some the other way; some affect
subscribe-by-web but not subscribe-by-email, some the other way; some
affect post-by-web only, some post-by-email only.
  - Users actually need a role in the project to count as "registered"
in the mess mentioned above (ISTR, maybe, this might already be fixed
on Tigris, not sure, but that's why I did it that way this time)
