OK, so I've checked the open issues for tree conflicts.

There's this big one:
http://subversion.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3210
It's basically "rewrite diff". I'd say it's a tad too big for gsoc.

Then there are improvements we need in the command-line user
interface for tree conflicts:
http://subversion.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3144
http://subversion.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3342
Could we roll a proposal out of that?
This can be quite a creative task. If those two issues are not enough
on their own, anything that helps improve the usability of tree conflicts
on the command line could be made part of the task, including ideas
proposed by the student. E.g. I know that Mark has made some nice tree
conflicts UI for subclipse based on several different use cases.
It would be nice if the CLI client had similar capabilities.
Is this something worth proceeding?

I'd totally mentor this, but again, only together with at least another
developer. I'll have exams myself in May and June, so whoever wants to
mentor this too should probably be prepared to spend more time on the
mentoring than I will during the first few weeks. See timetable at
http://socghop.appspot.com/document/show/program/google/gsoc2009/faqs#timeline
