As far as I know how to check this all dependencies that the package
system reports are fulfilled with the versions svn requires. This
problem also existed before an upgrade to intrepid and I've seen many
other hardy systems in that configuration with a working svn client. So
my first guess is that it is not a general problem with the ubuntu packages.

Well, I to my mind a segfault is always a bug. At least it indicates bad
error handling?
