BDB improvements update.

Alright, Hyrum. I think I got the BDB fs-rep-sharing stuff wrapped up
tonight. I'd like to do a full sync with this code of our codebase just to
make sure that's all non-obviously-broken.

We really should do some performance comparison testing of our backends
using 1.5.x and fs-rep-sharing just so we can accurately explain the costs
of our changes (if any).
