update from non working copy

Hi all,

Is there any way of updating a versioned element from a local file
which is not a working copy? Basically I have to write a tool which
lets users start a simulation which in turn writes some output files
to a directory. These files have to added to SVN. First time add is
fine. The problem is that when these files change, the user will want
to commit files again. Since these output files are not checked out
and hence are not working copies, is there any way I can update the
SVN version of the old output file with this new output file?

I'd really appreciate all the help I can get.

Regards,
Gowri
